Tyler Thacker is a multimedia artist primarily working with trompe l’oeil oil painting on canvas. He has spent the greater half of the past decade living and working between Istanbul and Paris exhibiting his work internationally, when grievances against former representation resulted in his return to New York to explore avenues of production, exhibition, and sales independent of the proverbial white cube. After the calamitous failure to open his own Arts Programming Space out of a historic gothic church in Troy, NY by attempting to usurp ownership from a counterfeit Arts Non Profit, he has retreated to narrowly focus on a written anthology accompanied by one large maximalist coloring page and one enormous oil painting. The aim of these three works are to draw a line from the inception of Woodside Presbyterian Church for iron workers in the Industrial Revolution, through the Presbytery’s forfeiture and subsequent purchase by a clandestine non profit, into its eventual implosion as witnessed firsthand by the artist.
